ABOUT RICHIE HOLLIDAY

Being born and raised in Greenbrier County, this is my home.  I left Greenbrier County in 2006 to further my education and start my career.  I always knew home was where I would eventually come back to and in 2016 this came true.  Many of my ancestors were citizens of Greenbrier County when it was founded March 1, 1778, and we have remained here for centuries.

Greenbrier County is the crown jewel of West Virginia and if you ask me, the diamond of the USA.  I see every day in my profession, people who have moved away from here only to want to come back home.  The natural beauty in our county is only further amplified by our people.  We have the best people in the world here.  Our county is continuously growing, and more people means more money.  I want to make sure that the people coming into our county are people who value our way of living and align with those values. I want to make sure that our money is being spent on things that continually improve our county.  I want our county to remain the best place in the world to live and raise a family.  

I feel with my knowledge of for-profit business, non-profit business and government business, I could bring a new perspective into the county commission.  I have extensive experience in budgeting. Large business budget, small town budgeting and nonprofit budgeting is where I excel.  I have written and received several grants for Central Greenbrier Little League.

We have an awesome airport that I feel could be utilized more to benefit not only visitors but the residents here and in surrounding counties.  I would like to try to get another airline in service that the common person could afford to travel with.

I feel as sometimes the youngest residents of our county are often overlooked.  Greenbrier county has decent facilities for our youth and sports, but everyone around us has phenomenal facilities for youth sports endeavors. I would like to be a part of finalizing a sportsplex for our youth.  I want my children and my nieces and nephew to be able to have the absolute best opportunities available to them right here at home, without having to travel to Covington or Raleigh County.

Relationships are the key factor in being successful.  I can tell you that as a successful Lewisburg businessman I have formed long lasting relationships from every corner in Greenbrier County and beyond.  Relationships that I cherish and honor.  I have worked on several successful campaigns over the years with state Senate and Delegate candidates.  The contacts and friendships of these people will only further help me in acquiring additional resources for our county on the state and federal levels.

In conclusion, I want to be Greenbrier Counties next commissioner to better our county and continue my family’s tradition of calling this great place home for centuries to come.
